Understand how you earn money on Fairground and when you get paid.

How You Earn

As an artist on Fairground, you can earn money from:

  • Music sales - Fans purchasing your tracks
  • True Fans subscriptions - Monthly recurring revenue from subscribers

Revenue Split

When you earn money on Fairground:

  • You receive the majority of each transaction
  • Fairground takes a small platform fee
  • Stripe takes standard payment processing fees

The exact split is shown when you set up your pricing and in your earnings dashboard.

Payout Schedule

Fairground uses Stripe Connect for payouts:

  1. Earnings hit your Stripe balance - Usually immediately after a successful payment
  2. Stripe transfers to your bank - Automatically, typically daily
  3. Money arrives in your bank - 1-2 business days after transfer

First Payout

Your first payout may take a bit longer (up to 7-14 days) while Stripe verifies your account. After that, payouts happen on a regular schedule.

Taxes

Fairground doesn't withhold taxes from your earnings. You're responsible for:

  • Reporting your income
  • Paying applicable taxes in your jurisdiction
  • Keeping records of your earnings

Tax Documents

Stripe provides tax documents if you meet reporting thresholds:

  • US artists - 1099-K form if you meet IRS thresholds
  • International artists - Varies by country

Refunds & Disputes

Refunds

If a fan requests a refund:

  • The refund amount is deducted from your earnings
  • You'll see this reflected in your payment history

Payment Disputes

If a fan disputes a charge with their bank:

  • The disputed amount is held pending resolution
  • You may be asked to provide evidence
  • Stripe handles the dispute process

Troubleshooting

Not Receiving Payouts?

  1. Check Stripe account status - Make sure your account is fully verified
  2. Verify bank details - Ensure your bank account is correctly linked
  3. Check for holds - New accounts may have temporary holds
  4. Review Stripe Dashboard - Look for any action items or alerts

Earnings Not Showing?

  • Payments may take a few minutes to appear
  • Check that the transaction was successful
  • Pull to refresh your earnings screen
