True Fans

Set up subscription tiers and offer exclusive content to your biggest supporters.

What is True Fans?

True Fans is Fairground's subscription system that lets artists offer exclusive content and build deeper connections with their most dedicated supporters.

True Fans allows you to create subscription tiers that fans pay monthly to access. In return, subscribers get:

  • Exclusive posts and updates
  • Early access to new music
  • Free access to tracks marked "Free for True Fans"
  • Direct connection with you as an artist

For Artists: Setting Up True Fans

Prerequisites

Before setting up True Fans, you need:

  • An artist profile on Fairground
  • Stripe Connect set up to receive payments

Creating Subscription Tier

  1. Go to your Artist Profile → Settings
  2. Tap True Fans
  3. Tap Create Tier
  4. Set up your tier:

- Tier name - e.g., "Supporter", "VIP", "Inner Circle"

- Price - Monthly subscription price

At present, you can only set up one Tier.

Creating Exclusive Content

You can create exclusive content for True Fans subscribers:

  1. Go to your Artist Profile → Settings
  2. Tap True Fans
  3. Navigate to the desired Tier
  4. Tap Post
  5. Capture Title and Body of the message - adjust font and format
  6. Tap Post

Only subscribers at the selected tier (or higher) will be able to see the post.

At this stage you can choose to make this a general post by unselecting Exclusive to True Fans

Managing Subscribers

View and manage your True Fans subscribers:

  1. Go to Artist Profile → Settings
  2. Tap True Fans
  3. Navigate to My Subscribers
  4. View your subscriber list and stats

How to Subscribe

  1. Visit an artist's profile
  2. Tap the True Fans button or banner
  3. Choose a subscription tier
  4. Add a payment method if you haven't already
  5. Confirm your subscription

Managing Your Subscriptions

View all your active True Fans subscriptions:

  1. Go to your Profile → Settings
  2. Tap True Fans
  3. See all artists you're subscribed to

Updating Payment Method

  1. Go to Profile → Settings
  2. Tap Manage My Billing
  3. Add, remove, or update your payment method

Canceling a Subscription

  1. Go to Profile → Settings
  2. Tap True Fans
  3. Find the subscription you want to cancel
  4. Tap Cancel Subscription

When you cancel, you'll still have access until the end of your current billing period.

Billing

  • Billing cycle - Subscriptions are billed monthly
  • Payment methods - Credit/debit cards via Stripe
  • Receipts - Sent to your email after each payment

Payment Issues

If a payment fails:

  1. You'll receive an email notification
  2. Update your payment method in Settings
  3. The subscription will retry automatically

If payment continues to fail, the subscription may be canceled.

Tips for Artists

  • Offer real value - Give subscribers content they can't get elsewhere
  • Post regularly - Keep subscribers engaged with consistent exclusive content
  • Promote your tiers - Mention True Fans in your posts and releases
  • Use exclusive releases - Release tracks to True Fans first before making them public
  • Engage personally - True Fans want to feel connected to you
